The Indian Vegan Society was present at the38th World Vegetarian Congress of the International Vegetarian Union (IVU) at Dresden, Germany from July 27 to August 3, 2008. Our President Vn.Shankar Narayan has presented a speech on "Origin and history of vegetarianism in India". Our Director Dr. Nandita Shah has been speaking on "Vegan Nutrition and Heath".

The theme of the Congress was "100 years of food revolution". The congress programme consisted of a wide variety of lectures and workshops, as well as exhibitions, an overview on the history of IVU and the World Vegetarian Congresses, and stalls and demonstrations of firms and Vegetarian Societies.
